Jerry Yang and Akiko Yamazaki Environment and Energy Building (Y2E2)
Stanford University
Different disciplines.
A shared challenge.
Y2E2 was conceived as a place for people from different fields to work on environmental questions together. Four atria connect the building's levels, bringing daylight into shared areas and making activity across disciplines visible. Study, research, and conversation are part of the same daily experience.
RMA.studio provided space planning, furnishings selections, and custom furniture design. The work supports places for individual focus and informal exchange around the building's research spaces. Furniture helps make the large, open areas usable at a personal scale, giving students and faculty room to meet and continue a conversation beyond the lab.
