Shriram Center for Bioengineering & Chemical Engineering

Stanford University

A human scale for ambitious research.

The Shriram Center brings bioengineering and chemical engineering into a common home within Stanford's Science and Engineering Quad. Research and teaching labs are connected by a central stair and open atrium, allowing people to see work underway across floors and disciplines.

RMA.studio's space planning, furnishings selections, and custom furniture design support the daily life around that research. Places to meet, work through an idea, or pause between activities make the building useful beyond its labs. The furniture helps turn circulation and shared areas into settings for exchange while leaving the scientific work at the center of the experience.
