Lathrop Library
Stanford University
A place for focus.
Many ways to learn.
Lathrop Library brings several ways of learning together in one renovated building. The East Asia Library, study spaces, academic technology, and teaching rooms serve people who arrive with different purposes and stay for different lengths of time. The interior needs to help them find a place that fits.
RMA.studio provided space planning and furnishings selections for this broad mix of uses. Furniture supports quiet research, informal study, and work with others, while helping each area feel clear and approachable. The project gives an existing campus building a more useful daily rhythm for students, faculty, and library staff.
